Warning Signs

Got any of these? Call Bingo.

Garage doors and gates usually give a warning before they fail. Catching it early is cheaper, and a lot safer, than waiting for the door to get stuck with the car inside.

Heard a loud bang in the garage? That is often a spring breaking. Do not lift the door by hand or pull the red emergency cord while the door is up - it can drop hard. Keep people and cars clear and call us.

  • Grinding or banging

New squeals, scraping or loud bangs when it moves.

  • Won't open or close

The opener hums or clicks, but the door stays put.

  • Reverses on its own

Goes down, then pops back up before it closes.

  • Crooked or sagging

One side lower than the other, or a gap at the floor.

  • FREEspace - just call(475) 268-1487
  • Gap in the spring

A visible split in the spring above the door means it broke.

  • Frayed cables

Loose, rusty or fraying cables on the side of the door.

  • Slow or jerky

Shakes, stops halfway or takes much longer than it used to.

  • Gate won't latch

The driveway gate drags, sticks or the opener ignores the remote.

FAQ

Garage door & gate questions

Why won't my garage door open?

The most common causes are a broken spring, a snapped or loose cable, a door that has come off its track, blocked or misaligned safety sensors, or an opener problem. If the opener hums but the door does not move, or the door feels very heavy, it is usually a spring - do not force it, call us.

Can I replace a garage door spring myself?

We do not recommend it. Garage door springs hold a lot of tension and can cause serious injury when they are released without the right tools and training. Keep the door closed, keep cars and people clear, and let a technician replace it.

How long do garage door springs last?

Standard torsion springs are commonly rated for about 10,000 open-and-close cycles, which is roughly 7 to 10 years for a typical household. If one spring breaks on a two-spring door, it is usually smart to replace both.

Do you repair driveway gates and gate openers?

Yes. We repair swing and sliding driveway gates - hinges, latches, rollers, sagging gates and damaged sections - and we repair and install gate openers, keypads and remotes.

Should I repair or replace my garage door?

Most problems - springs, cables, rollers, openers, a single damaged panel - can be repaired. Replacement makes sense when several panels are damaged, the door is badly rusted or rotted, or you want better insulation and curb appeal. We will tell you honestly which one makes sense.

How much does garage door repair cost?

It depends on the door and the part - a roller or sensor fix costs far less than a new door. We look at the problem first and give you the price before any work starts, so there are no surprises.

What areas do you serve?

We are based at 483 Main St in Middletown, CT and serve Middlesex County and nearby towns, including Cromwell, Portland, Durham, Middlefield, Haddam, East Hampton, Rocky Hill, Wethersfield, Berlin, Meriden and Wallingford.
